ARNISSA PELLA

Arnissa is located on the banks of the lake Vegoritidas and at the foot of mount Vora. The lake was once the deepest of Greece, today the level has dropped considerably.

In 1953, when the lake water receded, remains of prehistoric necropolis were revealed, which are one of the attractions of the region.

The village is 20 km away from Edessa and lies on the border of the prefecture of Florina, while in a short distance, at an altitude of 1150m, is the old village of Agios Athanasios, one of the most famous tourist places.

Arnissa is known for its crops of apples. The local active women's cooperative produces with traditional ways pasta, sweets, pickles, preserves and paprika.
